Frost Spider Sorath: how to stop the revive and beat the Freeze
Sorath revives unless he dies under HP Burn or a Block Revive. Here is how his skills work and what to bring to the Doom Tower and Cursed City.

The Frost Spider, Sorath, is the boss on Floors 40, 80 and 120 of Doom Tower Rotation 1, on both Normal and Hard, and he also turns up in the Cursed City. Emptying his health bar is not enough. If he dies without HP Burn on him, he comes back, and that catches out a lot of teams.
The revive
With the Purge By Flame passive, Sorath revives with 50% HP, a full Turn Meter and all skill cooldowns reset, and he spawns two Spiderlings. The fix is simple: make sure HP Burn is active when you land the killing blow, or use an effect that blocks the revive.
HP Burn matters for more than the kill. While it is on him, the Freeze chance from Absolute Zero drops to 50%, and he does not gain the extra DEF and RES that Frozen Lymph gives him when Burn is missing.
What he does to your team
- Whiteout hits everyone and applies Decrease ACC for 2 turns, which makes it harder to land HP Burn.
- Katabatic Winds hits everyone. Frozen champions get Block Buffs and 100% Heal Reduction; the rest get Decrease SPD and Decrease ATK.
- Absolute Zero removes all your buffs, then has a 100% chance to Freeze for 1 turn. He fills his Turn Meter by 20% for every Freeze placed, so he can come round again fast.
- Frozen Lymph gives a 20% chance to Freeze anyone who attacks him, for 1 turn.
He is immune to most crowd control, HP exchange, HP balancing and cooldown increasing effects. Enemy MAX HP attacks are capped at 10% of his MAX HP per skill hit, and Turn Meter reduction against him is cut by 50%.
The Spiderlings
Left alone, the Spiderlings cleanse debuffs from Sorath, including HP Burn, Decrease DEF and Weaken. Stun or Freeze them, or kill them quickly, so your debuffs stay up when you go for the finish.
What to bring
- An HP Burn champion. Ninja and Artak are named as strong activators.
- Block Debuffs and a cleanser to deal with Freeze, Decrease ACC and Heal Reduction.
- Healing, and ideally a revive, for the repeated AoE hits.
- Enough ACC to land debuffs on the harder stages, since Sorath can have high RES.
- Spiderling control, either AoE crowd control or enough damage to clear them.
- Decrease DEF and Weaken for damage, and Decrease ATK to soften his hits.
An example team
The guide suggests five roles rather than a fixed line-up. Artak places HP Burn on all enemies, then uses his A2 to trigger the Burns, and adds Decrease ATK. Doompriest, built for high SPD, removes one random debuff from each ally and heals 7.5% of their MAX HP on each turn. Pythion brings a full team revive, a cleanse and Block Debuffs; build him with high RES so he is not Frozen himself. Lydia adds Decrease DEF, Weaken, Increase SPD and Strengthen, and her passive denies Sorath's revival entirely. Gnut is the damage slot, with Blessed Bash as a triple hit Enemy MAX HP attack. If you lack Gnut, another boss damage dealer or a second HP Burn activator can fill it.
Auto runs
If you farm him on Auto, consistency is everything. Reliable HP Burn, cleansing, healing, Spiderling control and enough survivability stop a bad Freeze rotation from ruining a run. Lydia is the neatest safeguard, because she removes the need to time the final hit around HP Burn.
