Bommal the Dreadhorn: how his Dreadbombs work and who beats him
Bommal punishes buffs, debuffs and Turn Meter control. Here is how his skills work and which champions and team types handle him best.

Bommal the Dreadhorn is one of the hardest Doom Tower bosses. His fight is built around Bombs and summoned Dreadbombs, and it punishes many of the habits that normally keep a team safe. Here is what he does and how to beat him.
What makes him dangerous
Rain of Bombs removes every buff from your team, places a Bomb on each champion, then adds an extra Bomb for every buff removed. Those Bombs cannot be blocked or removed, though they can be resisted. A heavily buffed team therefore takes more punishment, not less.
Magma Flood places HP Burn for 3 turns, and each Burn deals 100% more damage for every Bomb already on that champion. Ruinous Crush reduces Bomb countdowns by 1 turn and triggers HP Burns early.
The main threat is the Dreadbombs. They explode for 40% of each champion's MAX HP. Dread Minions summons two of them, and another appears whenever his Turn Meter is reduced.
His passive adds more trouble. Each debuff you place on him puts an unremovable Bomb back on you, and any Bomb exploding on your team has a 25% chance to Stun every other ally. He is immune to crowd control, HP manipulation and cooldown increases, and Turn Meter reduction against him is cut by 50%.
Where he is weak
Bommal takes 300% more damage from Bomb debuffs. Dreadbombs always have 75 Speed, whatever the stage, so you can tune around them. Freeze cuts their explosion damage from 40% MAX HP to 20% MAX HP.
Team approaches
- Resistance teams: build enough RES, with Increase RES and Decrease ACC, to dodge most of his effects. Harima can help reduce Dreadbomb damage.
- Vogoth and Geomancer: deliberately trigger extra Dreadbombs with Turn Meter reduction. Vogoth heals from the hits and Geomancer reflects the damage back, with a reviver as backup.
- Solo teams: Lady Annabelle and Haggibah can sustain themselves through the fight.
- One-shot Bomb teams: Gnishak Verminlord with several Ally Attack champions, plus Increase ATK and Weaken, can kill him before he acts. His Bombs deal double damage against targets with over 200,000 HP.
Champions worth a look
Vogoth heals allies for 50% of the damage he takes from Dreadbombs, rather than 25%, because they count as enemies and not bosses. Lady Annabelle heals 50% MAX HP whenever an ally or enemy dies, so each exploding Dreadbomb heals her; build high HP and DEF.
Gnut can melt Bommal with Enemy MAX HP hits, but his A1 reduces Turn Meter and spawns extra Dreadbombs. Aim it at Dreadbombs instead to Freeze them, and avoid his Counterattack skill. Harima also helps clear the waves leading up to him.
Quick tips
- Do not stack unnecessary buffs before Rain of Bombs.
- Check that your team survives the Bombs each debuff will earn you before loading him up.
- Only reduce his Turn Meter if it is part of the plan.
- Bring real sustain: regeneration, healing, or high HP and DEF.
If you own a Bomb champion, Bommal is where it pays off most. If not, a Vogoth and Geomancer pairing or a Resistance build is the more realistic route.
