Vott Head Lopper: how his kill chain works and who should pull him

Vott Head Lopper, a Legendary Magic HP champion from the Banner Lords, is now in the game after the 11.85 patch. His kit is built around stripping enemy buffs and turning kills into more damage. The Halloween event brought him in, so this post looks at what he actually does.

What his skills do

His Ever-Sharp Ax (A1) hits all enemies and lowers their RES and DEF by 5%, stacking up to 30%. His passive, Any Last Words?, fires that skill again whenever an enemy dies, once per turn. Each kill also adds 10% C.DMG to Vott, up to 100%, and he heals 5% of his MAX HP at the start of each of his turns.

One Clean Out (A2) has a 5-turn cooldown. It puts Hunter's Gaze and Deathbrand on one enemy for 2 turns before attacking, and ignores 30% of that target's DEF. Deathbrand stops the target being revived. If the enemy dies, the cooldown of his A3 is reset.

Righteous Killing (A3) has a 6-turn cooldown. It hits all enemies 3 times, and each hit reduces the duration of every buff on each target by 1 turn. If any enemy has no buffs left afterwards, Vott gets an Extra Turn.

The sequence, and its limits

The intended loop is simple. Use the A3 to strip buffs and, if the condition is met, take an Extra Turn. Then use the A2 on a weakened target. If it dies, the A3 is ready again. Neither step is guaranteed: the Extra Turn needs an enemy to end up buff-free, and the reset needs the A2 to land the kill. Against bosses that cannot be killed in this way, you only get the buff-shortening and the stat reduction.

Who should care

  • Banner Lords teams: his aura raises Banner Lords allies' HP by 40% in all battles.
  • Arena players: shortening buffs and blocking revives are useful against teams that rely on protection or reviving.
  • Wave content: repeated kills build his C.DMG and keep weakening the survivors.

He can be pulled from Ancient, Primal and Sacred Shards. The game data rates him four stars for Campaign, Arena (both sides), Hydra and Faction Wars, and three stars for Chimera and the Demon Lord.

Building him

The recommended stat priority is HP%, C.RATE, C.DMG, SPD and ACC. Gauntlets can take HP%, C.RATE or C.DMG, the chestplate HP% or ACC, boots SPD or HP%, and the amulet C.DMG or HP. For blessings, Crushing Rend, Heavencast and Lightning Cage are suggested. Since his damage scales with HP and kills, he rewards a team that can finish enemies quickly rather than one that chips away at a single target.
