Primus Atalact, an Epic Void Defence champion from the Lizardmen, arrived with patch 11.85. He is pulled from Void Shards, and his kit is about drawing attacks onto himself and punishing the enemies who make them.
His kit
Primus' Promise (A1) attacks one enemy with a 25% chance to Stun for 1 turn, and puts Perfect Veil on the ally with the lowest DEF for 1 turn.
Steadfastly Loyal (A2) has a 4-turn cooldown. It attacks all enemies with a 75% chance to Provoke them for 1 turn, and gives Primus Counterattack for 2 turns.
Phalanx of Scales (A3) has a 6-turn cooldown. It gives all allies a 60% Increase DEF for 2 turns, then teams up with 3 random allies to attack a single enemy.
His passive, Duty Until Death, steals 1 random buff from the target whenever he counterattacks. Combined with the A2, enemies that attack him can be Stunned by the counter and lose a buff. The Provoke is a chance, not a certainty, and so is the Stun.
Where he fits
His aura adds 35% ally DEF in Faction Wars, so Lizardmen stages are the obvious home. The Ally Attack on his A3 also helps against the Fire Knight, where extra hits help break the shield. The game data gives him four stars in Campaign, Demon Lord, Faction Wars, and in the Spider, Fire Knight, Dragon and Ice Golem dungeons. Arena, Hydra and Chimera get three stars.
Building him
Aim for ACC, SPD, HP% and DEF%. If he also needs to buff and debuff, add RES. The suggested slots are:
- Gauntlets: HP% or DEF%
- Chestplate: ACC, HP%, DEF% or RES
- Boots: SPD, HP% or DEF%
For blessings, Cruelty is the recommendation. His damage multiplier is based on DEF, so a durable build also keeps his attacks useful.
Worth the Void Shards?
He suits progression players who want Provoke, a team DEF buff and buff removal in one slot, and established players building faction-restricted teams. He is not a replacement for a dedicated speed or damage champion, and his star ratings for Iron Twins and Sand Devil are low at two stars each.
